On 23rd of May 2019, Xuefeng Wu, Director of TriVista Engineering Limited, visited Welland Medical in Crawley, West Sussex to attend the manufacturing forum organised by Sussex Chamber of Commerce.
Manufacturing Forum is a successful format allowing people in manufacturing industry to gather together to share successful stories of British manufacturing, exchange experience in solving common problems and discuss new ideas.
Welland Medical is an established manufacturer of selling stoma care products. It started in 1988 and has grown to a company of £30 million sales in 30 years. The company’s success is based on three main principals: Product innovation, cost reduction and automation. Products are Colostomy, Ileostomy, Urostomy and their accessories. Within these three main product ranges, there 1700 variations. The talk by Managing Director Chris Primett was very interesting. It covered the history of the company, how to organise international sale, how to deal with pressure on pressure reduction and how to prepare for Brexit! The talk was calm, modest but at same time inspiring. A well-respected company and a truly successful story of British manufacturing.
